Best iPhone Apps for Small Business - Part 3

By John Rowa

The term "Apps" is defined as "mobile software applications". If you are a small business owner, you could care less what the heck it means as long as it works.

So, here is the third part of our #Top10Apps series that highlights iPhone and iPad apps that really WORK for small businesses every day.

Evernote: The reasons we love Evernote are many. It's beautiful, fast, easy to use, and pretty much everything you would expect a "note taking" app to be.

Entrepreneurs are always thinking on the fly, working on the go, and coming up with new ideas that they are going to probably forget before they can act on them. Fortunately, Evernote is a great tool to help you keep track of what your brain thinks of and organize it so you can recall it later. All you have to do is remember the name of the app to use it--oh darn.

Heytell: Greg Trimble, FreeCustomWebsite.com owner, probably would have Heytell ranked 1 if he was writing this article. However, I'm behind the keyboard and I'm placing Heytell 3--which is absolutely nothing to be disapointed about.

Heytell is a great app that works just like a "walkie talkie" would, but with a much wider range and higher quality signal. When you leave a Heytell voice message for a friend, co-worker, or even a group of people, your contacts can listen to the message, save it, and reply at their convenience.

So, when you need to send that *ahem* special "get to work" message to your employees you won't lose any of the emphasis in your message that you might in a text message.

Intuit GoPayment Credit Card Terminal: Going to a trade show in Las Vegas and need to sell some products easily from your booth? Maybe you provide computer support locally and want to accept payments without dealing with invoicing? Whatever your mobile small business may be, Intuit GoPayment is a great solution for accepting credit cards directly on your iPhone or iPad.

The Intuit GoPayment app allows you to receive credit card payments, capture signatures, and send professional receipts all from the palm of your hands. In addition, iPad app is beautiful and allows you to checkout items in a store format from your tablet. You'll probably want a full scale merchant account and terminal if you are making a high volume of transactions, but for many small business who want to take their products and services on the road, Intuit GoPayment is a great tool!

We finish up our series tomorrow and celebrate our winner and Top iPhone App for Small Business in 2011!
