The Things You Must Know Concerning SEO

By Bonita Luna

If you are just starting up with Internet marketing, there is no doubt you've already heard a great deal about SEO. What does SEO mean. Why is it such a big deal? SEO is the abbreviation for Search Engine Optimization. It is a big deal because it is one of the biggest tools internet marketers have at their disposal to make sure that their websites and content rank high within the major search engine's ranks. Many internet marketers use SEO techniques to help raise their pages up into the top pages of the search engines so that they get more customers and make more sales. Don't be intimidated, you can understand SEO easily. You just need to know where to start! Now follows a bit of helpful information which you should understand concerning SEO.

The first thing you need to keep in mind is that keyword phrases are better to use than single keywords. If you focus on a single word, you run the risk of over saturating your content with that word. Typically not approved of by the search engine spiders, over-saturation is more difficult for users to sift through.

The following information is designed to aid you in choosing those SEO methods that will create online success.

Do not be tempted by "black hat" SEO techniques like stuffing a bunch of keywords at the bottom of your page but making the text white so that it matches the page background or stuffing a bunch of keywords under your image files. This is disingenuous at best, and will not be looked upon kindly by the major search engine providers. Whatever you do, don't take anyone's word that something is legitimate - make sure you know whether or not you're getting scammed by these particular methods, or if they actually work. Go with what is effective. Stay as far away from scams as you can get.

Here's a great tip for your when using SEO: use official channels to submit your site to the search engines. Each of the largest search engines will allow you to fill out submission forms to ensure your site is recognized by the crawlers. You need to keep in mind that it is going to take a long time for the submission forms to get processed, so don't expect your site to be ranked quickly. They are, however, a valuable resource if you ever run into duplicate content issues with another site. Not only can it be helpful, but you will gain another link from going this route.

Don't start adding links just to have links on there. If you will take the time to figure out what links will be the best for the site, the search engines will appreciate.

The three major considerations that best define Search Engine Optimization are: Reputation, Popularity, Text, and Links. Once you know how to manage these four areas, all of the other little hints and tricks you read about do not matter. In fact, these should be your primary focus even if you aren't trying to incorporate SEO. Forget about those other, SEO fly-by-night fads. They'll die out every time a new page ranking is issued by Google. In lieu of that, just make your content as good as it can be and your SEO will do the rest!
