How To Get New Friends And Keep Them

By Jeffrey Greco

For people who are curious to learn how to get new friends, this article will give a bit of advice concerning this. This will help you to get out more and stop being a recluse, and this will add value to your life.

People can get more things done if they spend some time on their own, and for instance you can get that manuscript ready for publication, or indulge in a bit of Do It Yourself projects at home. However, you need a friend that you can count on through thick and thin.

The first course of action is to decide to hang around other people. It is not possible for you to have people waiting at your door wanting to be you friend. Social places are great for meeting new people and going shopping at the mall or going for coffee is an ideal way to start. Local parks and even community centers are great places to be. One does not need to spend all the time indoors playing computer games when there are people out there that are just waiting to play a real game of soccer.

Joining a club is a great idea, and one does not need to be highly skilled in sports to enjoy and easy afternoon with others playing your favorite sport. For instance if you like football, you can join a football club where you will meet other people who enjoy the game. There internet can also help you to find acquaintances, and such networking sites like Facebook, Twitter and Google Plus can be used for this purpose.

Joining a sports team is another great idea if you want to start new friendships. It does not matter if you are not good at a particular sport. People will not judge you because of your ability at sports but rather on the personality that you bring to the playing field. Not all sports are competitive to the point that an amateur cannot participate in. There is nothing as refreshing as a kick about in the evening when the sun is going down.

Becoming a volunteer is another way you can use to find a new friend. This is also part of your social responsibility, and the fact that people will have a common goal means that you have a head start with them. Long life bonds can be made at places where you volunteer.

While it is important to join clubs or become a volunteer, it is vital for you speak to the people you meet when you are at these venues. Do not hesitate to approach people to strike up a conversation because you will have nothing to lose. Although you may never get to become lifelong friends with most of these people, one of them can actually become a lifelong friend.

The most important part of making new friendships is to make eye contact with people and smile at them. This will show people that you are approachable. Do not look bored, frown or appear to be blank if you are interested in how to get new friends.
