Things To Know As An Internet Marketer: Time Management

By Tangela Rulapaugh

Are you an internet marketer? If so, you may spend all day on the computer. Unfortunately, the computer and the internet makes distractions easy. For example, researching marketing forums for new ideas is ideal, but not if you spend hours carrying on personal conversations with other members.

To be a successful internet marketer, time management is important. Unfortunately, many new to the business assume time management is difficult or costly. Yes, it can be, but there are easy and affordable approaches you can take. A few cheap ways to manage your time are highlighted below.

1. Design a solid to do list

A to do list can be made on every piece of paper. You only need a pencil and a piece of carton or paper. And if you have a computer, you can also do this in notepad or in a wordfile or even in a excel sheet. If you don't have that, do it in Google docs. It is important to create a new to do list for every new day. Best to do this, right before you go to sleep or before you start your working day. You need to think about what you want to accomplish the next day. What steps do you need to make in order to achieve your goals?. Whatever you think is important to do, write down the tasks that need to be done and by what time. All these tasks should be in this to do list document.

You want the overall picture, but don't forget to put in the little details as well. One main task may contain 5 subtasks. The moment you finished a task, cross it out.

Now you not only have a list to do that will keep you on track, you actually have a list that will motivate you as well.

2 - Create a Schedule

With the to do list you know what to do during the day. Crossing away tasks will probably motivate you to do even more. If not, you need to make a time schedule. Decide how much time you want to spend for each task.

Do you want to submit articles to directories you paid an outsourced writer to write? If so, set aside a specific block of time to doing so. For example, submit these articles between 9 and 10 am. By keeping an eye on the clock, you know when you are starting to fall behind, allowing you to pickup the pace.

3. Start using your desktop calendar

The sooner you start to realize that you are having time management problems, the sooner you need to start implementing these tips. But don't stress if you are doing ok. This is where a desktop calendar is useful.

Desktop calendars are large in size, enabling you to write various tasks on a daily slot, but without great detail. Do so. Each time you complete a task, cross it from your calendar.

Desktop calendars are available for sale online and in many local department stores and office supply stores. They tend to retail for under $5, making them an affordable way to manage your time.

4. The use of an alarm clock

You probably already have an alarm clock. As an IMer you need one. You are supposed to use it in conjuction with your scheduled to do list.

Well, you needed to subit the articles, right? You allocated one hour to do this. You need to set the alarm one hour later, when you start. When this alarm goes off, you have to be ready.

5. Time is money

As an IMer time is wherein you make your money for yourself or your clients. All the things you do, are connected to money to be made. Use this as a motivator.

Focus is the answer to it all. You need to drive traffic to the websites, make sales and build your list. This will result into making money for you. It is not the quantiy of work you do, it is the quality of work you do.
