By Betty Dawson

Indigestion relief can be determined and cured through home remedies. Patients describe indigestion, better known as dyspepsia as a bulky feeling before finishing a meal in the upper part of the stomach or abdomen. Indigestion is widespread to adults and may occur on a daily basis or in marginal amounts.

Causes of Indigestion

* Indigestion can also be idiopathic or it has no known cause. It is then termed as functional dyspepsia. This particular type of indigestion occurs in the area where the stomach meets the small intestine.

Symptoms of indigestion

* Feeling fuller than average.

* The stomachs inability to flow contents (i.e. food) cause food stasis is regarded as a major symptom of indigestion.

* Epigastric pain is also a common symptom. It can be mild to severe.

* Other manifestations are nausea and vomiting, heartburn, belching, acidic taste, and abdominal tenderness. Stress can aggravate the symptoms.

Diagnosis

* A physical examination will be performed by a medical professional.

* X-rays, blood, breath or stool tests may be conducted to diagnose indigestion.

* For severe cases of indigestion, an upper edoscopy may be performed on the patient to check for abnormalities not found on other test indicators. If need be, the doctor may remove tissue.

* If symptoms persist for more than 2 weeks, seek for medical assistance at once.

* If you experience frequent vomiting, hemoptysis, weight loss, anorexia, melena, dysphagia, shortness of breath, excessive sweating, and pain that radiates to the jaw, neck, or arm, it means you need to go to the hospital for further evaluation.
