Following The Word of God Through Christian Meditation

By Jessica Page

Most of the time, the word "meditation" is associated with humming monks in a Buddhist temple and their huge beads. Images of a bald male wearing a robe of the color yellow whose main goal is to achieve enlightenment would also come into your mind. Nevertheless, meditation is not exclusive for the Buddhist religion only. Christians meditate too but a different manner.

The words of the Holy Bible clearly command us to put the Almighty's words of wisdom into our minds. A person is a slave of his own thoughts. This is because our minds govern every action that we take. By always remembering His words of living a life for others and actually doing it, we lead better lives in the world.

Thinking is a Christian's way to meditate. You don't need to be bald, wear that prescribed robe and be in a specific position just to contemplate. One only has to remember the commandments of God since the beginning of time. You have to be aware that as one of His children, it is your moral responsibility to obey these commandments. Love your neighbor as you love yourself and the doors of Heaven should be opened for you.

Meditation is not all about thinking on every command that God has said. It requires you to put them at the center of your life, make them part of your being as a whole and let them be your guide to live a life according to His will. Christian meditation is as easy as breathing. A heartfelt prayer is enough to achieve this. You can pray to Him before you close your eyes at night, upon opening them first thing in the morning and while you're in the middle of a busy day just to keep you guided.

You don't have to lie down in order to do Christian meditation. All you need to do is think about God's word wholeheartedly and also accept them as your daily guide in your daily life.

It will finally dawn to you what are the most important things in your life once you start meditating. It all takes a little of your time everyday to refresh His every word into your mind and to be completely at ease deep within your soul. A life with Christian meditation will give you more happiness and contentment.
