Indulge in 'Me' Time at the Spa

By Lydia Greyson

Today, people are busier than ever. Most juggle work and home life with little time for adequate rest or relaxation. This busy hectic lifestyle can lead to an over abundance of stress, and stress is known to cause multiple health ailments. Headaches, high blood pressure, and weight gain are just a few of the health issues associated with too much stress.

Sometimes just something as simple as receiving a manicure and pedicure is enough to improve the mood and relax the body. Having someone massage oils and moisturizers into our hands and feet not only feels great but it releases those feel good endorphins that can add a boost to the mood and overall attitude.

For the ladies, adding a pretty color to the nails makes them feel attractive, and when you look better, you feel better. Some day spas offer yoga and Pilate's classes for the ultimate relaxation package. Yoga and Pilates not only improves the mood, but the movements and poses strengthen the muscles and makes for a leaner and toned body.

Stress is something that most cannot avoid, but how we believe this stress is completely our choice. The beauty of this mini vacation is that it can be taken as often as you like. Most vacations are planned once a year, if that, but a day spa is a way to relax anytime that you want. Plan for once a month, or even once a week if that's what appeals to you.

In addition, a facial is another great way to relax. Stress and exposure to the sun causes wrinkles, uneven skin tone, and dark circles under the eyes. A specialist can tell you exactly what type of skin you have and give you a facial designed to meet the needs of your skin. Your skin care specialist can customize a facial just for you.
