How to Throw a Birthday Party for Your Dog

By Dirk Gruenberg

It's your pet's big day! Are you wondering how to throw a birthday party for your dog? It's not difficult, and it doesn't need to be expensive. You'll probably end up having even more fun than your furry friend.

Every good party starts with good food, right? This is no different with your dog's birthday party. But instead of regular cake you better find some great doggie snacks. You know best what your dog likes and there is such a variety of dog snacks available that you will find something he appreciates.

Not only can you find creative snacks at your pet store, you can bake treats yourself, using pet-friendly ingredients.

Here is how you can design your birthday cake: why not give it the shape of a paw print, bone or cat? But the most important thing is to make sure that your dog becomes the star of the show.

How can you showcase this? In pet stores there is a vast variety of dog outfits. Why not choosing a doggy dress for your girl dog or a tuxedo or just a jacket for your boy dog on his big day?

Make sure the outfit that you choose underlines your dog's very own personality. For example you can put a crown or a hat on his head. These accessories can easily be attached by an elastic strap, so it will not fall off.

No party is complete without games, so gear the activities toward ones that the four-legged guests will love. Toss frisbees, balls or other toys and get the dogs to fetch. Play hide-and-seek by hiding treats around the house or outdoors.

Command the dogs to "stay" until you're finished hiding the snacks; once all the treats are in place, let the dogs go and eat whatever they find. You can also give dogs some exercise and fun by creating an agility course outside.

Your dog will undoubtedly be happy with whatever birthday plans you have for him, so throw a small and simple bash, or rent out the entire doggy day spa to treat your faithful friend.
