Evaluating an Office

By Aaliyah Scott

Office spaces seem to be increasing in size, and for a relatively new, small business this can present a real problem when it comes to selecting your next ideal office space. One way that has come about to combat this problem is the idea of shared office space, and many companies are working quickly to adapt this idea as their own. The idea of shared office space involves several companies working from one office and each contributing to the daily running costs which include heating, electricity and the internet - while still offering a professional face for their clients.

Sharing an office is becoming increasingly common in the UK, especially in areas where office rental is hard to afford. In many inner city locations small businesses simply cannot afford to rent a property and are forced to look in the outer suburbs or even at home for a more financially viable solution to their office problem. The introduction of shared offices means that these small businesses can now work with other businesses in the same position and cut their overheads, allowing them to rent a decent office space.

A shared office space can offer many potential benefits to clients including the ability to share overheads in a location that the business may not otherwise be able to afford. These overheads include internet charges, utility bills and various other costs that are incurred by a business.

In addition, conference rooms and meetings rooms are more accessible through shared offices and although you may have to share your room with several other companies, many small companies simply cannot afford to lease these rooms otherwise.

As we continue to drive business into a cost-cutting nature, it seems that more and more companies are being forced to band together to work as a team and really cut down their own costs to allow them to compete in an open marketplace. Office sharing is one solution to this situation.
